Mining Abandoned Ontario Canada

Following directions from my GPS, I arrived at the end of what appeared to be a long driveway. The white house in the distance looked as though it might be someone’s home. I hesitated, looking over the place and deciding whether or not to drive in when I noticed that the power lines leading into the property had been cut from the poles. This made my decision for me.

When I arrived, I realized that it was not a house, as I had thought. It was, in fact, the hoist room. Though someone had certainly put a fence around it to protect it from entry, someone had quite thoroughly negated that obstacle in two places, removing entire sections of the fencing.

The head frame for the mine was missing, but as I was later to discover, it had been donated to the town as a monument and relocated to Main Street in Cobalt.
