Racing had informally been happening here for a number of years before formal racing began with a dirt track in the early 1970's. It didn't last long, however, as Hurricane closed down after only a few years of operation.
I had heard about this place through others, and quickly began my hunt for it. When I arrived at the small road entering to the track, I was greeted by a surprising amount of water flooding the way.
This, of course, is the reason for inventing 4-wheel drive. After a slippery, dirty drive, I arrived at the paved oval.
There wasn't a great deal to look at, but it was still interesting to catch glimpses of what it must have once been like.
